Cognac Wine Tour

Get to know the exquisite French liqueur with a visit to two major cognac houses

Cognac is a pure amber-coloured brandy explicitly made in a region of western France with the same name.
The chauffeur will pick you up at your hotel. After a couple of hours’ drive to the northeast of Bordeaux, you will arrive in the region of Cognac, where you will visit two distilleries, including a prestigious brand like Otard, Hennessy, Camus or Rémy Martin.
You will learn everything about grape varieties, fermentation and distillation methods while experimenting with different kinds of the fine spirit.
The region allowed to produce Cognac is split into six zones, including five crus. The wine is very dry and acidic, practically undrinkable,” but excellent for distillation and ageing.
Cognac can be produced only from a strict list of grape varieties; if it carries the name of one of the crus, it must be at least 90% Ugni Blanc (known in Italy as Trebbiano), Folle Blanche and Colombard.
However, 10% of the grapes used can be Folignan, Jurançon blanc, Meslier St-François (also called Blanc Ramé), Sélect, Monfils or Sémillon.
During the tour, you will stop for lunch at a local restaurant in the historic town of Cognac to sample the region’s gastronomic delights.
