Embark on a journey into the ancient Jewish soul of Florence

This 3-hour private walking tour will retrace the history of the Jewish community in Florence from the 13th century to nowadays. The guide will meet you at the entrance to the city’s monumental synagogue, which dates back to the 19th century and boasts a splendid Moorish style. The first and second floors house the Museum of Hebraic Art & Culture, displaying a rich collection of ceremonial objects and documents about the city’s Jewish heritage. The guide will show you also the former site of the city’s Jewish Ghetto in Piazza della Repubblica, as well as some of the city’s most famous sights with links to the Jewish history, such as the “Gates of Paradise” , the bronze doors designed by Lorenzo Ghiberti for the north entrance of the Baptistery that feature symbols and images of the relationship between the Jewish and Christian cultures.
