From Siena, a scenic drive through the Chianti Classico leads to a day combining the medieval towers of San Gimignano with a wine and food experience at one of the Chianti's most storied estates. Your first stop is San Gimignano, a UNESCO World Heritage town whose 14 surviving towers rise above the Elsa Valley. Spend an hour exploring at your own pace — the Piazza della Cisterna, the Collegiate church with its medieval frescoes and the artisan shops along Via San Giovanni.

From San Gimignano, a short drive brings you to Castello di Fonterutoli, set on a hilltop between Castellina and Siena and owned by the Mazzei family since 1435. The three-hour experience begins with a 4-course lunch at the estate restaurant, with Tuscan dishes paired with estate wines, followed by a guided tour of the winery with the estate's wine expert — covering the Mazzei family's centuries of history, the vinification systems and the aging cellar. Four Chianti Classico wines are tasted, which may include the Chianti Classico Gran Selezione and Concerto di Fonterutoli Toscana IGT.
