From Siena, head south into the Val d'Orcia for a full day combining medieval history, Renaissance elegance and an immersive estate experience at Argiano, one of the founding families of Brunello di Montalcino. Your first stop is Montalcino, a fortified hilltop town commanding views over three valleys. Spend an hour exploring at your own pace — the 14th-century fortress, the Gothic loggia of the Palazzo dei Priori and the enotecas that have made this town a destination for wine lovers worldwide.

A short drive brings you to Argiano, a Renaissance villa set among Sangiovese vines above Sant'Angelo in Colle. Over 2.5 hours you'll walk through the vineyard and formal gardens, descend into the 16th-century cellars and visit the private rooms of the Villa, with their ongoing restoration work and Renaissance art.
