The journey begins heading north into the first Chianti hills, reaching Monteriggioni, a perfectly preserved medieval fortress. Built in the 13th century and famously mentioned by Dante in the Divine Comedy, Monteriggioni once served as Siena’s main defensive stronghold against Florence. Continue on to San Gimignano, one of Tuscany’s most iconic hill towns, renowned for its dramatic medieval towers that still dominate the skyline.
